Each workshop is intentionally kept small (maximum of 3 participants), allowing for personalised support, individual guidance, and plenty of time to ask questions. Whether you are new to quilting or looking to refine your skills, these quilting classes focus on accurate cutting, precise piecing, and building confidence with every stitch.
During each session, you’ll be guided through carefully designed projects using simple, structured methods that make quilting feel achievable and enjoyable. You’ll learn essential patchwork techniques, how to follow quilt patterns, and how to improve accuracy in your sewing — all within a relaxed and welcoming studio setting.

🌟About Your Quilting Tutor!
Workshops are led by Jayne, founder of Poppy Patchwork, who has a passion for helping quilters learn in a calm, clear, and confidence-building way. With many years of quilting experience, Jayne has created a wide range of quilt patterns, step-by-step tutorials, and quilting resources designed especially for beginners and those looking to improve their skills. Her teaching style focuses on breaking techniques down into simple, manageable steps so that every quilter feels supported and capable.
Before launching Poppy Patchwork online, Jayne ran a fabric shop in Bristol where she taught quilting classes in person; something she thoroughly enjoyed. She is now delighted to return to face-to-face teaching, offering small, friendly workshops where each participant receives individual guidance and encouragement.
Whether you are picking up a rotary cutter for the first time or looking to refine your accuracy, Jayne’s workshops are designed to help you learn at your own pace and leave feeling confident in your quilting.

🧵Let's Make a Quilt from Start to Finish
Over 12 weeks, you will attend 6 in-person class days, where you will receive demonstrations and guidance on all the steps to make this sampler quilt.
During these sessions, you will be working on your own quilt, and you will carry out homework tasks to get the most out of each class.
- You will learn how to cut your fabric with a rotary cutter and piece your fabric together to make 3 different quilt block designs.
- You will learn how to add sashing and cornerstones to complete your quilt top, and you will learn how to prepare your quilt top for quilting by making a quilt sandwich.
- You will learn fused applique to add hearts or a design of your choice to the quilt, and you will learn how to use your own sewing machine to add quilting to your quilt.
- You will learn how to make a hanging sleeve, a label for your quilt, and how to make and attach binding to your finished quilt.

🌈Make a Bargello Quilt or Wall hanging
In this workshop, you will learn how to create a stunning Bargello quilt or quilted wall hanging in just one day.
You will learn the intricate art of cutting, pressing, and sewing fabrics together to create a beautiful Bargello quilt top. Don't worry if you're new to quilting - this class is designed for beginners, and step-by-step guidance will be provided throughout the session. During the workshop, you will work with your own fabrics, and some equipment will be available to use.

In this one-day workshop, you will create a beautiful Disappearing Nine Patch quilt top.
This is an easy quilt for beginners, and you will receive full guidance and support on the day to make this yourself.
During these sessions, you will create your own quilt top by learning the following quilting skills in a safe and comfortable sewing studio:
- How to cut your fabric with a rotary cutter
- How to piece your fabric together to make each quilt block
- How to add sashing to join your quilt blocks together
- How to finish your quilt top

Learn the skills to make your own heirloom Christmas Table runner. This project teaches you the power of making Half Rectangle Triangles (HRTs), a really useful skill in patchwork.

🎄Christmas Tree Applique Workshop
At this festive workshop, you will enjoy making this fun Christmas Tree block and embellishing your wall hanging with fused applique, buttons, and the flange border effect.
