Welcome to Week 4 of the Cloud Nine Quilt blog! This week, I took a trip with my friend Emma to our fantastic long-arm quilter in the UK, Jo from Lou Lou Rioux.  We had a lovely chat in her studio, with a cup of tea by the log burner before discussing our quilts. Perfection!

Emma had brought along a lovely Lone Star quilt made from scraps in her stash which will be a bed topper, and I brought 2 small quilts; one is made from Boudoir by Basic Grey using a pattern called Midnight Stars.  Here is a sneak peek of the quilt, which I will show you once it has been quilted.

The other quilt I brought to Jo was the one for this blog – The Cloud Nine quilt – and this will be revealed once we get to the end of this blog series.

The Bento Quilt Block

Welcome to Week 4 of the “Cloud Nine Quilt” blog. The block this week is called Bento.

I originally made this block video on YouTube on 17th April 2020, and since then I have improved my video-making techniques. So, welcome to the “new and updated” Bento Quilt Block Tutorial.

This is the only block in the quilt with no angles, just squares and rectangles, but when placed together in a quilt with no sashing or borders it is quite impressive.

The Bento quilt block is a 9-patch block, and the measurements and instructions for making this block are available in my YouTube video, released on 28 January 2024.

The Bento block will be positioned in the finished quilt as shown.
Please come back next week to see the next block and video.

I hope you enjoy this block and see you next week for the halfway point.

Happy quilting,
Jayne x
